[Fear's inbox message is simply a crackling of static, with vague thumps here and there. It goes on for about thirty seconds before cutting short, like the sound was snapped off.]

( For as brave as Leliana is, and as hardened her shell now is, there has been plenty of things that she has been afraid of in her life. Not all of it is true fear, and she is thankful that she did not have to encounter the Nightmare, but she has known fear.

She's been afraid of losing her life, with the betrayal of Marjolaine striking her hard, or the challenges against the darkspawn. The Deep Roads had been a place of terrible thoughts and heightened emotion, with Leliana often jumping at the shadows.

Not everything that she has feared in the past Leliana still does -- she no longer fears Marjolaine, or the Warden that had killed her, but she remembers how it felt then, remembers that same fear )

[It's three days later when Leliana finally emerges from Fear's temple, and Fear finds himself impressed- and a little endeared to her cause. She's strong, just like Sharon was, despite her fears. He can respect that enough to give knowledge.]

You want to know what I'm going to do?

( She remains with text, still outside his temple to reply. Leliana doesn't want to wait, wanting the information despite what may be lingering from her stay )

I can imagine why. Knowing your power, and what you wish to do, would be dangerous for you.

I gain power from fear. What if knowing my intentions resulted in you and your kind no longer fearing me?

Some may already not fear you. There will always be something we would fear.

Of course.

But it wouldn't be the same. It could prove disastrous... which is why I'm beating around the bush about it.

What else? That which killed our previous hosts, the other gods you know now, and the rest of our species.

If I hadn't, we would all be dead by now.

If we stopped fearing you would the concealment disappear, or would the power you've already gained still sustain it?

That explains much, whether or not it is intentional. ( The fact that monsters are more like to appear than something cute -- they need to keep their fears running ) Having something to be afraid of is healthy.

Healthy for everyone in this city, I'd wager.

But I'm not quite the big, scary god pulling the strings if I'm the one trying to keep everyone alive, now am I?

You can understand why people would assume so. If you and Hope had not been left alive this would all be rather different.

I encourage the assumption. I need the fear it brings.

If Hope and I had not survived that which killed the others, then none of this would have happened at all.
