[Fear's inbox message is simply a crackling of static, with vague thumps here and there. It goes on for about thirty seconds before cutting short, like the sound was snapped off.]

[Hey, he's always happy to see people terrified. Fear smiles, though it's a little too sharp to be friendly.]

[Okay, so far so good, don't think too much about how scary this is.]

O-okay, thanks. Um, my friend disappeared during the blizzard a few months ago, and like... He just showed back up in the arena this month? And he doesn't remember anything between.

Do you know what happened?

I didn't do anything to his memories, if that's what you're asking.

[He tilts his head in thought, the unsettling smile vanishing as he considers it.]

If he was truly gone, then the Door took him- and must have pulled him back again. I thought that it eviscerated people if they went in backwards, but maybe he got lucky.

[There's a pause, and he shrugs.]

Your friend must be a piece of work for the Door to take him twice.

Yeah, if anyone could survive going backwards through some deadly portal to another dimension, it's him.

[There are a few more specific questions he could ask, but he thinks that as short as this conversation has been now's a good time to end it, before anything suddenly goes wrong.]
